Socially Distant Fall Activities Around Cleveland

Now that it is fall and October is approaching, the leaves are falling and the weather is getting cooler it is time to partake in Ohio’s favorite fall activities. There are a ton of new and exciting events happening in and around the Cleveland area you can safely practice social distancing! Be sure to double-check with the event and facility about their social distancing requirements, and don’t forget a mask!

 

Visit a Pumpkin Patch: A fall must-do is visiting a pumpkin patch! About 25 minutes outside of Cleveland, Mapleside Farms is a fully-operational apple orchard and pumpkin patch. They host fall festivals every weekend from September to October. From the Johnny Appleseed Festival to Spooky Weekend, enjoy apple and pumpkin picking, fresh kettle corn, hayrides, and zombie paintball. Other orchards and farms with corn mazes, cider events and more.  

 

Apple Picking with Pick Your Own: Spend a weekend picking apples with your family! Visit the Pick Your Own website to find an apple orchard near you! The website also offers crop calendars for each local area to tell you what is available to pick throughout the year, local weather forecasts and really easy illustrated directions to show you how to make jam, jelly, salsa, pickles, spaghetti sauce, applesauce and apple butter!  This is the perfect family event that allows you to get outside, have fun and support your community and its farmers!

 

Scarecrow Festival: Welcome autumn in style at the Scarecrow Festival held on September 18-20th at the Downtown Washington Court House This annual festival draws in thousands of people for live entertainment, food, rides, games, craft vendors, beer, wine, 5K Walk & Run, classic cars and much more!

 

Oktoberfest: 2020 will be Chillicothe's 2nd Oktoberfest event. Hang out outside on 2nd Street, on Saturday, September 19, for traditional German music, German food made by local people, German beer, games and a great time! 

 

Boo at the Zoo: There’s more to explore at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo! Don’t miss Cleveland’s favorite Halloween tradition - Boo at the Zoo presented by Citizens Bank. Bring your kids in costume and enjoy trick or treating, unlimited 4-D Theater movies, carousel and train rides, costumed characters, and the monster mash dance party! Don’t miss this limited-time event - Fridays through Sundays October 11 through 27 from 5 to 9 p.m.
